Annie Forsyth Eventing is very much a team effort

Annie is very grateful to everyone who helps to make it happen; from lovely owners and helpful sponsors, to her trainers and the home support team, assisted by her Mum and Dad, and all the professional external services.  Here you'll find details of Annie's trainers, the grooms and all the Vets, Farriers and Physios who back up Annie Forsyth Eventing and make it happen!

Annie's training with Caroline Moore

In January 2019 Annie started training in Leicestershire with Caroline Moore, a British Eventing Youth Performance Coach and a fellow of the British Horse Society. Caroline co-owns Allstar B competed by Ros Canter who won double Gold at WEG in 2018 and came 3rd at Badminton. Annie decided to train with Caroline after attending her 4 years to 5 star demo which Annie felt covered all areas of training from Bella aged 4 to Pip aged 17 and all the others in-between!

In 2020 Annie and Caroline focused on Billy Expectation (Bella), Sea Summer Clover (Toga) and towards the end of 2020 Billy McQueen (Harley) also started with Caroline.  Billy Wayne (Will) came back into work but due to Lockdown restrictions will see Caroline in 2021. (See Horses for more info).  Caroline focuses on coaching riders to improve their skills with the main aim to develop confidence and belief by building correct foundations.  Caroline is meticulous on riding correct lines and enabling the horse to understand the complicated lines asked of them on the cross country.  Annie finds Caroline's training hugely productive and inspirational.

Annie's training with Jeremy Spring BHSI
(Nov 2020 onwards)

Since November 2020 Annie has been training weekly with International Trainer Jeremy Spring who is based locally to us.  Jeremy trains along similar lines to Caroline which has been really helpful whilst Annie has been unable to get to Leicestershire due to Covid restrictions.  Jeremy focuses on teaching Annie as an Event Rider, bringing in all three disciplines through a variety of exercises that Annie is practising in her outdoor school.  With Billy McQueen (Harley), Jeremy and Annie are working on building correct foundations, and with the older horses, Bella, Will and Toga they have been building on those foundations to help Annie achieve her competitive goals. Jeremy has added polish and more discipline to Annie's training programme.

Dressage Training

Annie's training with Caroline is complemented by Dressage Trainer Tania Grantham of Inspire Dressage, a Grand Prix dressage Rider.  Annie started training with Tania in 2020.  Previously Annie has trained with International Grand Prix Dressage rider Sarah Millis; Sarah is a member of the World Class Equestrian Elite Coach Apprenticeship Programme.  Both Tania and Sarah are based near us in West Sussex.

Extra Training

During 2017 & 18 Annie took part in the Mark Todd Bridging the Gap training series with Gill Watson and Lizzel Winter. The series is for riders making the transition up to 3 & 4 star.

The three times Belgian Olympic Eventer, Constantin Van Rijckevorsel, (known as Tintin) lives nearby and has been a great help to Annie.

Grooms - we couldn't do it without you!

Annie is so grateful to our super grooms for all their hard work and their continuing support.  All can handle fit competition horses. Annie's team work on a rota organised by Fenella Forsyth and if there is one thing for sure, "we couldn't do it without you!"

If you are a local part-time groom, who is reliable, experienced and knowledgeable, and would like to become a regular member of the team, please contact Fenella Forsyth on 07760 390 333. References required.

Work Experience

We have worked well with Brinsbury College and West Sussex local schools since 2016 offering yard work experience for well motivated young people who are keen to learn.  You need to have some experience and horse care knowledge, even if only from keeping your own horse.  If you are looking for work experience please contact Fenella Forsyth

External Services

Maximising potential for high level competition horses needs the best back-up.  Every aspect of horse welfare is examined to produce good management and Annie greatly appreciates her professional support team.

The LEH look after all our veterinary needs and is a fabulous resource. Annie has a close working relationship with the vets at the LEH.  Emma Davis, BVetMed (Hons) MRCVS liaises closely with Annie on all routine matters.

Stuart Duncan, retired Senior Partner, had supported Annie’s family for many years and Annie is very grateful to him for teaching her so much over the years.

Josh is Annie's farrier and has been shoeing her horses  since 2018. Josh had been remedially shoeing one of Annie's liveries and did such a good job, Annie asked him to start shoeing her horses as well.

Annie and her family had previously been with the same farrier for 15 years but their move from Midhurst to Loxwood became too far for Adrian Brazier to travel.  After so many years we were very sad to say goodbye.

Jo Pasetti, Dip A Phys, is a specialist in training for competition fitness and injury rehabilitation.  Her Techniques include ultrasound, photo-therapy and massage.

Just like human athletes, horses benefit from regular physio treatment to perform at their best. Jo started working with Annie in 2017 and is responsible for all the horses' routine physio to keep them on top form.

Jin Langston BSC (hons), MSc, PGDip MEEBW. With Jin’s help, Annie is exploring some methods to assist in horse alignment. Jin's therapy is a comprehensive musculoskeletal treatment useful as preventative maintenance or for optimal performance ensuring maximum functionality.

Jenny has looked after Annie and her family's horses for over ten years.  Annie has worked closely with Jenny who also works closely with the LEH. Jenny started in 1986 and is a Chartered physiotherapist and a member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy.

Annie's physiotherapist Bill Potts has a special interest in biomechanics, lower limb and injury prevention.

He is particularly passionate about helping people stay active in their given sport or exercise. He does this with manual treatments, specific movement assessment tests and tailored exercise programs to address issues identified.

PA, business coordinator,

sponsorship liaison,

marketing and publicity

Annie’s Mum Fenella, shares Annie’s passion for horses and love of Eventing and so is very involved in helping Annie.

Fenella works as Annie’s PA and business coordinator, and adds marketing, publicity, sponsorship liaison & organisational skills to Annie Forsyth Eventing. Fenella is also responsible for photos & videos.

When not on the yard or at her desk, she's driving the lorry or on the tractor! Never a dull moment!

Having lived near Midhurst for 20 years, the family moved to a 60 acre farm near Loxwood in January 2016, where Annie has her yard.  In 2019, after 40 years commuting to London Anthony was happy to retire! He is extremely busy working with Nella keeping on top of all the harrowing, rolling and topping, as well as other jobs, on the farm.

The farm is home to a super yard offering both winter and summer individual turnout, regularly grazed by sheep, keeping the grass in good condition. When not on the farm Anthony is regularly at Events supporting his daughter and is soon to take his HGV test!

Annie’s sister Sophie is a great supporter and also takes the best photos in the family. Annie and Sophie had great fun in Pony Club when growing up, doing pairs and being on teams together, going to camp and Sophie was particularly successful show jumping. Sophie now works in Insurance in the City - much to her parents relief, as one competitor in the family is quite enough!

Jake is Annie's long suffering boyfriend.  Nearly always there to support her, also an Eventer, and has his own horses.  The rest of the time he's working as a Lawyer! Jake is also responsible for creating the cross country fences on the farm.
